The Semi-Tropic Spiritualists Pilgrimage Friday October 12th at 8pm

The Semi-Tropic Spiritualists have exhibited their installations and performance works at Richard Telles Fine Art, Klowden Mann, The Vincent Price Museum, and Chime & Co. in Los Angeles; Shangri-La, Joshua Tree, CA; and Llano del Rio, CA among other locations. Their work will also be part of the upcoming exhibition Totenpass at Visitor Welcome Center, Los Angeles, in October 2018. Both artists received their MFAs from CalArts in 2008.

Akina Cox lives and works in Los Angeles and she has an upcoming show at Zorthian Ranch in November. Her work has been included in exhibitions at Commonwealth and Council, Monte Vista Projects, LACE, and Marine Contemporary. Her collaborative projects have been exhibited at the Center for the Arts Eagle Rock, as well as ForYourArt and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Her artist books have been published by New Byzantium Press and Golden Spike Press, and can be purchased at Otherwild, and the MOCA Bookstore in Los Angeles, Art Metropole in Toronto, and Printed Matter in New York City. 

Known for his experimental, surrealist prose, poet and Los Angeles native Will Alexander draws influence from the African diasporic experience and the international avant-garde, Aimé Césaire to André Breton, working through automatic writing to create new lexicons. Alexander works as a poet, novelist, playwright, aphorist, essayist, philosopher, visual artist, and pianist, he has 30 collections in the above mentioned genres. Both a Whiting Fellow and a California ArtsCouncil Fellow, he has been recipient of an Oakland PEN Award, an American Book Award, and winner of the 2016 Jackson Prize for Poetry.
